Fivefold test of strength: The Allgäu region in World Cup fever

It is worthwhile to once again mark the Allgäu region in red in the winter sports calendar! This season again, Germany’s most southern region will be one of the most important venues in the FIS World Cup Calendar!

From December to February, the world’s best ski jumpers, cross-country skiers and ski racers are almost continually coming and going.

The ski jumpers for the Vierschanzentournee are the kick-off: On 28th and 29th of December, the traditional event will once again attract more than 30,000 fans to Oberstdorf’s cauldron, the Erdinger Arena at Schattenberg. Only one week later, the events will move to the Cross-country Stadium Ried. With a skiathlon and a classic sprint, the cross-country stars will start into the tenth anniversary edition of the Tour de Ski – the world’s most important cross-country race series – on Oberstdorf’s WSC tracks.

In the middle of January, the show will go on on the Alpine slope: For the eighth time already, the Alpine skiing ladies will fight for important World Cup points in a giant slalom and slalom in Ofterschwang. From 29th to 31st of January, the international winter sports family will once again turn their attention to the ski jumping hills below Nebelhorn, when the world’s best ski jumping ladies will provide for an exciting World Cup weekend. Especially, Olympic Champion Carina Vogt and Oberstdorf’s World Champion Katharina Althaus are looking forward to their home World Cup.

Last but not least, the skiing area Oberjoch will come up with the most particular event: From 27th to 28th of February, the top Telemark skiers will meet for two World Cup races at the foot of Iseler.
